Finding Images for Your Blog Post Just Got Easier

We’ve written in the past about finding images for blog posts and how it’s important to use only images you have permission to use.

Well, now finding images for your blog post that are legal to reuse just got much easier, thanks to more robust filtering in Google Images.

The ‘Search tools’ button at the top of the page presents a series of drop-down menus that allow you to select the size, color, age, file type, and licensing options for your  image.

But you’re not free from still doing a bit of legwork. There is no guarantee that the content is lawfully licensed until you actually check it out yourself.

So what do the different types of permissions actually mean?

  • “labeled for reuse” – You can copy and/or modify the image in ways specified in the license
  • “labeled for commercial reuse” – You can copy the image for commercial purposes, in ways specified in the license
  • “labeled for reuse with modification” – You can copy and modify the image in ways specified in the license
  • “labeled for commercial reuse with modification” – You can copy the image for commercial purposes and modify it in ways specified in the license.

Finding images for your blog post just got easier, but it still may take some time to find the right one. Happy photo searching!
